Afternoon Tea At The Glenlo Abbey Hotel With Retro Flame & ITWBN
So far, not for one second, have I ever regretting setting up a blog and going one step further and setting up Into The West Blogger Network, a network supporting and connecting Irish Bloggers. All the planning a plotting with my partner in Blogging Ms Saibh Egan paid off, as 50 Bloggers from all over the country joined us in the Glenlo Abbey Hotel for an afternoon tea experience with International Fashion Blogger Erika Fox aka Retro Flame.
We are always excited to host what we call an #itwbnBloggerEvent, as these events are the perfect way for brands to get their products into the hands of Ireland’s Blogging Community and for ITWBN Bloggers to network and build relationships with brands and each other. At each event we strive to secure relevant and professional speakers to share their knowledge and experiences in a fun and interactive way and this event was no exception, as we welcomed Retro Flame to chat to us about her blogging journey and answered lots of questions over afternoon tea served by the luxury tea brand Solaris Tea.
Erika Fox is an inspiring Irish Fashion, Lifestyle & Travel Blogger currently living & working in New York City. Her blog, Retro Flame, is a compact diary of her outfits, travel, work and inspirations and is now nearly 4 years old. Through blogging, she has worked with brands such as Asos, Reiss, Warehouse, 7FAM, H&M, French Connection, Bare Minerals, The Reformation, River Island, Rebecca Minkoff, Bumble & Bumble and has been featured in a wide range of national and international publications including Teen Vogue, Seventeen, Stellar, Image and The Sunday Times STYLE Magazine.
As well as blogging, she also works full-time as social media manager with well-known US brand, Vince Camuto. Throughout her college years, where she studied International Marketing, she spent her Summers in NYC interning, networking and building up her portfolio. Over the course of two Summers, she worked in Fashion PR & Sales, with Whitney Port during New York Fashion Week, in the marketing department of www.refinery29.com and most recently with style icon, Olivia Palermo.
The choice of venue for afternoon tea could not have been more perfect as the sun beamed over the stunning 5 Star Glenlo Abbey Hotel. The Glenlo Abbey Hotel is truly amazing and this wasn’t our first time to host such an event in the lavish 18th century Abbey set on a 140 acre lakeside estate (read about it here). Glenlo Abbey boasts three opulent and elegant reception rooms and our guests were greeted with a punch reception in the Victorian inspired Ffrench Room.
After mingling and getting to know each other a little better everyone was lead to a magnificent dining room, the Riverroom Restaurant. Situated in the main hotel, The Riverroom Restaurant overlooks the stunning grounds of the estate. This room was picture perfect for afternoon tea with our special guest Retro Flame and the amazing spread of foods over exceeded our expectations.
We were spoilt for choice with so many amazing sandwiches, cream scones and a selection of pretty desserts including Lemon & Poppyseed Cake (White & Pink Icing), Carrot Cake with Orange & Cream Cheese Frosting, Guinness Cake with Baileys Buttercream, Rosewater & Raspberry Macaroons, Salted Caramel & Popcorn Macaroons, Gingerbread Men and Snow-cone cupcakes.
As always the support from local business and brands was amazing and our famous ITWBN goodie bags were full to the brim with so many amazing products and gifts (details of this is worthy of a post of its own). I’d like to thank Wendy, Aylisha & Emily from iNailz for joining us from Dublin. These girls always bring an edge of excitement and glamour to our events as they always have something new to show us…I can’t wait to tell you all about my new Blush Compact Power Charger.
All the way from Manchester was Dawn from St.Moriz tan and her sweet and glamorous mom Berverly ! St. Moriz is celebrating 5 years in Ireland this year and proved very popular with the Bloggers. Dawn kindly gifted everyone a beautiful bag of St. Moriz products. I have been trying them out and look forward to reviewing these on my blog very soon.
The local ladies Edel and Fionnuala from Design House Barna, showcased some of their fabulous pieces from the boutique in Barna, Galway. And “brewing” up a storm was Caitriona from Award Winning Galway based company Solaris Tea, thank you for serving us all your amazing tea which I am now addicted to. Thanks for introducing me to Rooibos Cacao Chai – I love it!!!
To capture the day on film (watch here) and in the most beautiful photos you have ever seen, is the dynamic duo Kenny & Julia of Wonderfulife Productions. Both Julia and Kenny are responsible for almost all of the photos in our gallery on our new website www.itwbn.ie. Julia is also an amazing Fashion and Lifestyle blogger at Love Joules – such a talented couple. Thank you. And obviously Saibh & I could not pull the day off without assistance from the old reliable’s Ruth from The Beauty Kemple and Kieran from Fear Nua and my bestie Maura. Thanks so much guys xox.
Finally, last but by no means least, I would like to thank the Glenlo Abbey Hotel. Their attention to details, professional and friendly approach and 5 star menu is a force to be reckoned with. Once again the Glenlo Abbey Hotel out did itself and we have made memories we will cherish forever. Whether it’s an evening meal in the Pullman Restaurant, Afternoon Tea in the fFrench Rooms, a night stay in the 5 start luxury including a round of golf, you won’t beat the Glenlo Abbey Hotel.
