Winter fashion was showcased like never before in Galway as the style mecca of the West staged a unique Fashion Trail with Galway’s top designers. Earlier this month GalwayNow, supported by Catwalk Model Agency organised the 1st Galway Fashion Trail that saw Galway city’s leading retailers host sequential fashion shows in their store. Each retailer included the collection of one Galway-based designer as part of their mini-fashion show. Fashionistas were treated to the very best of what’s on offer in Galway’s stylish outlets and I was delighted to be part of the 20 lucky blogger from Into The West Blogger Network to join GalwayNow for the inaugural Galway Fashion Trail.
And so the Galway Fashion Trail began…at 9.30 am 20 Bloggers from Into The West Blogger Network met in one of the most beautiful traditional tea shops in Galway. Situated in the heart of Galway’s Latin Quarters, The Serendipity Suite at Cupán Tae is pure luxury. We were treated to “before noon tea” in the most picturesque room ever. This private dining suite is exclusive to bookings only and the room accommodates parties up to thirty, offering a truly unique and must-have high tea experience. I’m so excited to return to The Serendipity Suite over the festive season with friends and family.
First stop for the inaugural Galway Fashion Trail was Colette Latchford, located in Lydon Court, Eyre Squre (just opposite the side entrance to Debenhams). The shop offers an impressive line up of quality labels and the Catwalk models did an amazing job showcasing this seasons’s brightest hues of Coral, Jade Green and Colbalt Blue.
Gosh! Shoes Galway in its beautiful new shop in Eyre Square Shopping Centre showcased their wide selection of branded and fabulous shoes as well as Galway Designer Caithriona King and Breege Walsh getting to show off their stunning collection of headpieces and hats.
The Treasure Chest on William Street is undoubtedly the most stylish retail outlet on Galway’s main shopping thoroughfare. The fashion shop on the first floor carries an extensive range of ladies fashions from all the leading Irish and European designers. The lovely Suzie Mahony Milliner was also showcasing her new collection as part of Galway’s first Fashion Trail in the beautiful surroundings of the Treasure Chest. Everyone was greeted with a glass of bubbly by Mary Bennett and her team and the Catwalk Models strutted their stuff in an amazing fashion show.
The style and glamour at Anthony Ryan’s really blow my mind… each look was perfectly styled and the amazing creations by Galway Designer Caithriona King were out of this world. I think the photos speak for themselves!!!
Stopping off in Willow’s new store on Mainguard Street was a must for me… I was dying to see what was in store…stocking so many amazing brands including Almost Famous, Ted Baker, Vero Moda, Darling, Sister Jane, See you Soon, Guess, Pieces, Levis, Tempest, Virgo’s Lounge, Laura Bernal, YAS, Soft Rebels and Finders Keepers you will be spoilt for choice. Meeting Galway Designer Brid O’Driscoll was also an exciting part of the day for me.
Kilkenny Shop is Ireland’s leading supporter of Irish Craft & Design. It’s the home to top Irish labels such as Niamh O’Neill, Caroline Kilkenny and Aideen Bodkin and international brands such as Qui, Olsen and Eva Kayan. Kilkenny stock a wide range of accessories for Orla Kiely and Fossil to Guess and Calvin Klein. They also offer a great selection of jewellery from top Irish Designers such as Chupi, Alan Ardiff and Newbridge Silverware with the new Ti Amo and Ocean range also in store.
The newest addition to Middle Street is Muse by Dee. This beautiful Boutique showcased Galway’s young designer Dearbaile Joyce. Greeted with a glass of bubbly and a warm welcome from owner Deirdre Fallon, followed by a stunning fashion show the day could not get any better.
Last but my no means least we crossed the road to one of my favourite boutiques in Galway, none other than PIA. As always Denise was looking stunning with a smile from ear to ear as she welcomed everyone to the finale of the Galway Fashion Trail.
In between all the amazing fashion shows we popped into see retailers such as Fallers, Hartmanns, Cloon Keen Atelier, Judy Greenes, Galway Hat Shop and My Granny Likes It, each showcasing a Galway Designer including Heather Finn, Emily-Jean O’Byrne, Lynsey de Burca, Breege Walsh, Natasha Heaslip and Maria Dorai Raj. What a fun packed day, and by 6 pm we welcomed the wrap up party at The House Hotel.
I’d like to thank GalwayNow and Catwalk Model Agency for organising such an amazing event and Into The West Blogger Network for giving us Bloggers the opportunity to be involved in such a super day.
