Goodbye 2015…Hello 2016
2015 was jam packed with fun and excitement and along the way there was some stress, pressure and life changing moments. Here are my top 10 highlights from 2015:
1. Into The West Blogger Network
You may from time to time have heard me refer to Into The West Blogger Network! Apart from my family and work, a huge part of my life revolves around blogging and this includes Into The West Blogger Network. As founder, it was my mission to grow a network of quality bloggers in the West of Ireland and looking back over the past 12 months I am very proud of how the network has flourished and grown.
Our quarterly events have been a huge success with bloggers travelling from all over the country to attend. I have been blown away by the support of local business and sponsors and of course the key players…the Bloggers. We have also collaborated with so many leading brands and companies such as Cocoa Brown, Debenhams, TanOrganic, Boots, The Body Shop, Peter Marks to name but a few. I still get goosebumps every time I watch this video.
Into The West Blogger Network doesn’t stop there… together with local tech company Educated Machine, we hosted a number of Blogging Workshops during the year…itwbnBlogSchool is the only workshop in Ireland that gets down to the nitty gritty of blogging, cuts out the nonsense and gets you set up on a blog in a day. I was also very proud of the fact that we launch the website www.itwbn.ie
2. My very own Yummy Mummy Cocktail at An Púcán
I still have to pinch myself…. I cannot believe the guys at An Púcán named a cocktail after me. Here is the proof….and I’m delighted to say its very yummy and contains one or two of my favourite ingredients!!!
3. Family Holiday
I live for our family holiday every year… last year we spent 2.5 weeks in the beautiful Algarve. For the past 10 years we have travelled to the Algarve for our summer holidays. Each year we consider going somewhere different but nowhere can seem to come close to what Portugal has to offer. We love pretty much everything about The Algarve. The people, the food, the accommodation and there are so many things to explore and see.
4. On-Line Marketing In Galway OMiG Awards
2015 marked the 2nd Online Marketing in Galway Awards. The OMiG Awards are about showcasing and rewarding companies and individuals in Galway who are doing amazing work in their Online Marketing efforts.
With over 200 applicants I was over the moon to be nominated for two categories this year and I was ecstatic that I made the top 5 for Best Blog Award and the top 10 in the People’s Choice Category. Thanks so much to everyone that took the time to vote for Yummy Mummy. Even though I was not a winner I was privileged to be a finalist amongst some of Galway’s finest Online Marketers.
5. Made Redundant!!!!! The launch of my new business Mini Media
In June 2015, after 16 years working in the Financial Services Industry, I was made redundant. Thankfully this did not come as a shock to me and I spent the previous two years re-training, setting up and writing my blog as well as setting up Into The West Blogger Network, all in the hope that one day I would be in a position to set up my own business and be my own boss.
In October 2015 I was delighted to announce that I had launched my own business Mini Media, which focuses on delivering Digital Marketing and Social Media Solutions as well as Web Design for small to medium size businesses. Mini Media’s mission is to help smaller businesses to develop and use social media platforms to target their markets and develop their brand, as sometimes you may not have time to do it yourself.
I love a road trip and the 3 hours drive from Galway to Donegal was well worth the journey. I was delighted to have been invited to Harvey’s Point Hotel for Keane on Style, as Award Winning Milliner Suzie Mahony special guest. Thank you Suzie for introducing me to the luxury 4 star Harvey’s Point located on the shores of Lough Eske set in the most breath-taking mystical landscape just 10 minutes from Donegal Town.
7. Inspire Fitness Metabolic Makeover
The week before Christmas I completed my 9 week Metabolic Makeover Programme run by Inspire Fitness. The programme is said to dramatically transform your shape, your health, your fitness and your positive habits. 3 x 1 hour workouts per week as well as sticking to a good diet I was delighted to have achieved my goal … I lost 8 inches. I am so motivated by the results that I have signed up for another 12 weeks starting back on Monday 4th January. If you too are looking to transform your body, I would highly recommend Inspire Fitness, the team are excellent and so much fun to be around too. My new goal is to work hard on the bikini body for Summer 2016!!!!!
8. Galway Fashion Trail
Winter fashion was showcased like never before in Galway as the style mecca of the West staged a unique Fashion Trail with Galway’s top designers. Organised by GalwayNow and supported by Catwalk Model Agency this was the 1st Galway Fashion Trail that saw Galway city’s leading retailers host sequential fashion shows in their store.
Each retailer included the collection of one Galway-based designer as part of their mini-fashion show. Fashionistas were treated to the very best of what’s on offer in Galway’s stylish outlets and I was delighted to be part of the 20 lucky blogger from Into The West Blogger Network to join GalwayNow for the inaugural Galway Fashion Trail.
Before the excitement of the Galway Fashion Trail started we were treated to “before noon tea”in one of the most beautiful traditional tea shops in Galway, situated in the heart of Galway’s Latin Quarters – The Serendipity Suite at Cupán Tae is pure luxury. I’m very excited about this years Galway Fashion Trail already.
9. Favourite Photo Shoot
One of my new years resolutions is to take more fashion photo shoots. Here are some of my favourite shots from 2015 taken by lovely Julia from Love Joules and sweet Danielle from Sweet Memories Photography.
10. The Perfect Gifts
I always have a wish list and I discuss it with my better half twice a year…on my birthday and at christmas… I honestly cannot believe that my top two wishes were granted this Christmas….I was like a child jumping around the house on Christmas morning after unwrapping my gifts to find a Daniel Wellington Watch I had been lusting after all year and the icing on the cake a gorgeous tan and black leather Ted Baker handbag. Arrragh I love them both so so much, thank you darling husband.
I also received the Blank Canvas Cosmetics Master Series Palette One. If you don’t own this palette yet… make sure to get your hands on it this year… 12 beautiful neutral shades perfect for creating a variety of eye looks. The palette has the perfect balance of 11 velvety matte shades ranging from a gorgeous vanilla base colour to a dark brown shade.
It also contains 1 shimmery champagne highlighter shade (Love love love). It also contains Blank Canvans bestselling vegan friendly E40/41 Double Ended Tapered Crease Blender/Smudger. The stiff flat shader end (E40) can be used dry/damp to apply eyeshadow. The fluffy dome side (E41) can be used to blend seamlessly. I’m one very happy lady… thank you Blank Canvas Cosmetics.
