Dublin will always be one of my favourite cities to visit. After finishing college in Sligo, myself and 2 friends headed to the big smoke to gain employment. I spent 4 fun years in Dublin making lots of unforgettable memories – it’s always great to visit. We also have family in Dublin so it’s an added bonus to visit them too.
Midterm break is a great excuse to get away and shopping was on the cards as my eldest daughter Chloe turned 12 on the 23rd February and nothing would do her but to head to Blanchardstown & Dundrum Shopping Centre. Who am I to get in the way of a young one’s shopping spree!!!!
I was fortunate enough to have been offered a 2 night stay in the award-winning 4 star Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown. This luxury hotel accommodation in Dublin is located in the heart of Dublin 15 is within a short distance of the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and in close proximity to the National Aquatic Centre, Phoenix Park, and is known as a top hotel near Tayto Park.
It is conveniently located close to the M50, M2 and M3 motorways, making it easily accessible from all major routes across the country. It’s also close to Dublin city centre, so it’s an ideal location if you are planning a trip to the theatre, museums or a concert.
I know the area very well as it’s where I used to live when I was in Dublin, so the familiarity was great and I was excited to visit Blanchardstown Shopping Centre again. It had been way to long!!!
We got a great start to the day as we took to the motorway and arrived in Dundrum Town Centre at 11.30 am. We literally shopped till we dropped, the kids have enough clothes to do them until Christmas. Most of our money was spent in H&M, Hollister & Penney’s. We had a spot of lunch in the food court before checking in to our hotel at 4 pm.
Award Winning 4 star Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown
Upon arrival we received a warm welcome at reception and we were then introduced to the Manager who assisted us with our luggage and showed us to our room. We couldn’t be more spoilt… we were led to one of the Superior Suites, handed tickets for the cinema and the National Aquatic Centre and there was a bottle of red wine, chocolate strawberries and a selection of fruit awaiting us. The excitement as the kids discovered a goodie bag each full of sweets, colours and crayons. We honestly couldn’t believe our luck, the large hotel suite is luxuriously decorated with rich reds and has a living and dining area separate from the bedroom. Totally amazing!!!
My images just don’t do it the justice it deserves. The superior suite consisted of a king size 4 poster bed with an interconnect second bedroom (more than perfect for our family of 5). The bathrooms were huge, with an amazing shower and bath and luxurious bathrobes and slippers. All the extra’s including access to the executive lounge & library, air conditioning, Tea/Coffee making facilities, Plasma screen TV with multi-channels, 24 hour room service, complimentary Wi-Fi, US/EU power points, large work desk, safe, hair dryer, iron & ironing board.
Dinner at The Carlton’s Urban Kitchen did not disappoint either. My brother-in-law, his wife and kids join us as we enjoyed a delicious meal. The selection on the menu was incredible with so many options for both adults and children. The house red was very nice too and we ended the evening with the staff brining out a beautiful cream cake with Happy 12th Birthday for my daughter Chloe. So so sweet, a birthday she will never forget.

We had a fabulous time in the 4 star Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown and were treated like royalty. The superior suite was stunning, the food was delicious, the buffet breakfast was yummy and the staff are professional and friendly. We packed so much into our two night stay… shopping at Dundrum and Blanchardstown Shopping Centres, going for a swim in the National Aquatic Centre, eating at Nandos, catching a movie at the Odeon, highly recommend Lion – excellent movie and it’s always great catching up with our Dublin cousins.
